A heatwave predicted for parts of the country is unlikely to hit Cheshire West and Chester , so no need to rush to dust off the sun lotion and sandals just yet.

One weather forecaster says temperatures could reach up to 17°C in central areas, but no such luck for the North West.

Overcast skies are on the cards for Chester on Saturday (March 12), according to the Met Office, with temperatures set to peak at 10°C.

There may be sunny intervals on Sunday (March 13), with highs of 11°C.

T-shirt weather for some

But Jim Dale, forecaster for British Weather Services, says it could be T-shirt weather in north Wales and central parts, before winter coats are necessary again next week.

“It is possible this weekend could be the warmest so far with 16°C (61°F) or even 17°C possible in parts of the country," he said.

“With the direct sunshine and the favourable angle of the sun at this time of year north Wales and central parts could get the best of the weather, people could be wearing T-shirts.

“However there is a decent spell of wet and windy weather to come first with heavy rain likely to bring localised flooding.

“And then by the middle of next week things will probably break down into a colder regime again after a decent spell of spring weather.”
