A CHESTER sandwich shop is a five star establishment.
Doorsteps in Handbridge has been awarded the highest five-star rating for food hygiene safety as part of Chester City Council’s Scores on the Doors scheme.
Owner Sue Robinson is delighted with the award, which follows a previous four star rating last time.
She said: “I would like to thank all the staff for their continuing hard work and professionalism.”
Trading has been difficult for all Handbridge shops following the closure of the Dee Bridge for repairs twice last year and The Secret Garden, a neighbouring florists, closed just before Christmas.
Sue admits that trading remains challenging but added: “I think that sales are strong because we offer the customer excellent service and exceptional value for money in the current economic climate.
“I would also like to thank our loyal customers who supported us during our recent refurbishment and throughout the bridge closure.”
A Chester City Council spokesperson said: “To meet legal standards, establishments would expect to be awarded three stars. Following a major refurbishment, Doorsteps in Handbridge is exceeding those expectations and is a good example of good practice.”
