Chester Rotary Club have stepped in to help visually impaired pupils at a Chester primary school.

St Werburgh’s and St Columba’s School have a number of children with visual impairments who need books with enlarged and bold print and the club has donated £1,000 to fund specially adapted books.

Chester Rotary Club has donated £1000 towards books with enlarged and bold print

Year 4 pupil Carys Johnson came up with the idea to start a library for visual impaired children using the money donated by Rotary so that other children in the area could benefit. With the support of teaching assistant Theresa Malloney there is now a library of large print fiction and non fiction books.

The school was recognised recently for this and other community projects by being awarded the Active Community Award.
