BOUGHTON Hall retirement village in Chester has held its second annual fête, with all the money raised going to Barnardo’s.

Nearly 500 people turned up to witness Chester MP Stephen Mosley get proceedings under way by officially opening the event.

Organiser Dee Hall said: “Everyone had a great day, we were brilliantly supported by the local community.

“We were really lucky – the weather held out for us and donations are still coming in, so I would say it was a great success.”

The event had a mix of stalls and entertainment for all ages, ranging from fair rides and games for both little and big kids to cream teas and a barbecue for the grown-ups.

The fête had a large range of local produce on display for people to buy, with music provided by budding local musicians.
