A glamorous day at Chester Racecourse saw well-dressed crowds turn out for Ladies Day.

Exquisite dresses, spectacular hats and fine suits were on show on Thursday (May 5), the second day of the Boodles May Festival.

The sun gleamed over the Roodee throughout, just as it had 24 hours earlier.

Again the city centre was also a hive of activity with visitors taking in the bars, pubs and sights before heading down for the start of the races at 2pm.

Being Ladies Day there was a best dressed competition for the fashionistas in the paddock with prizes on offer for the winners.

Former England footballer Michael Owen, his wife Louise and Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher were among those watching on the second day of the May Festival.
