The under 11 swimming team from The Queen’s School in Chester is celebrating after achieving great success in the medley relay event at the ESSA National Team Finals, held in Sheffield.

Cara McCann, Gracie Anwyl, Mia Fourie and Holly Mulligan had qualified to represent the North West following a previous gala held in Liverpool in April.

The girls performed superbly at the event, held at Ponds Forge International Pool, beating their qualifying time by five seconds and qualifying for the prestigious A final against some experienced schools from across the country.

In the final the girls swam another strong race finishing in sixth place.

Lower school head of sport Carole Tottey said: “I am so proud of the girls’ achievement in this gala. It is such a big occasion and the girls thoroughly enjoyed the experience of swimming against the top teams from all over the country.”
