AN ACTIVE imagination has installed a 10-year-old pupil as one of the top three story tellers in Cheshire.

Laura Williams, from The Queen’s School, Chester, took second place – her creative skill being recognised among the 200 other Cheshire-based children who took part.

The initiative was run by Explore Learning Chester.

The creative writing competition challenged young learners in the area to develop a written piece inspired by the title Lost and Found.

Competitors were encouraged to produce exciting and interesting pieces of writing.

Queen’s School student Laura said she was thrilled to do so well in the competition.

She said: “I love to write stories and this was one I was very proud of.”

Laura’s teacher, Margaret Ainsworth, introduced Laura and her class to the competition and students completed their entries at home.

The talented young writer was presented with a certificate and badge at a school assembly.

Margaret Ainsworth, Year 6 teacher, Deputy Head and English Coordinator, added: “Laura continues to excel in English.

“She is very imaginative and writes superb stories. I am very proud of her fantastic achievement.”
