PUPILS at Chester’s Queen’s Lower School have been digging the dirt.

The Year 6 pupils visited Potteries Museum in Stoke on Trent to explore the Staffordshire Hoard.

The girls also attended archaeological workshops teaching them skills required by professional archaeologists when discovering sites of historical importance.

Headmistress Felicity Taylor said: “The girls had a wonderful day.

“The hoard is a vast collection of the most beautiful Anglo Saxon treasure. It really helps us to see the sophistication of the craftsmen at that time.”
