Chester Pride has announced that its ‘Pride’s Got Talent’ search for a local star is returning.

And for the first time the contest is open to under-18s as well as over 18s plus variety acts.

Chester Pride – a celebration of diversity and support for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community – takes place on Saturday October 1 at Castle Square, Chester.

The winner of Chester Pride’s Got Talent will perform on the M&S Bank main stage along with a line-up of celebrity and local acts.

Matthew Poynton, Chester Pride’s Got Talent coordinator, said: "We are excited about opening up the competition to under 18s as we know there are many talented young people out there and this year you can enter if you’re a singer, a band, can play an instrument, are a dancer or part of a dance group, a magician – any type of variety act.

“We have three heats over the summer, one for under 18s and two for over 18s. The two acts that most impress our judges in each heat will go forward to our grand final on 17 September to win a chance to perform at Chester Pride!"

The first heat is for under-18s and will take place at the Pride in the Park Family Fun Day at Grosvenor Park on Saturday 23 July.

The over 18s heat will take place in The Liverpool Arms Friday September 2 and Friday September 9. Entrants can register to take part on the Chester Pride website .

Current sponsors of Chester Pride 2016 include M&S Bank, Cheshire West and Chester Council , MBNA / Bank of America , Cheshire Police , Cheshire and Wirral NHS Partnership Trust, DTCC, Deva Tuk Tuk, Brightlife and Russell and Russell Solicitors.
