CHESTER city centre features in the new Sainsbury’s Christmas advertisement which airs for the first time tonight.

The 60-second advert sees TV chef Jamie Oliver adding a special personal touch as he takes to the road to deliver festive Christmas food, along with some easy hints and tips, direct to people across the UK. The advert also features many of the people that Jamie met – you might see yourself if you were there on the day.

A specially designed working kitchen measuring almost 20ft was constructed on the back of a flat-bed truck to allow Jamie to visit different areas of the country during the shoot.

Starting in Liverpool, he moved on during day one to Chester, cooking up Christmas treats for passers-by, which included ciabatta with cream cheese, horseradish, smoked salmon and dill; mince pies served with a mixture of clementine zest, crème fraiche and a dash of rich cream sherry; and a freshly baked, golden roast, Norfolk Black turkey.

Christmas snow scenes were created in St Werburgh Street, decorating the area around the cathedral to resemble a Victorian Christmas scene complete with lights in trees and the surrounding shops.
