POLICE are trying to trace these two men in connection with an unprovoked attack which left a rugby player with a fractured cheekbone.

Police want to trace the Asian man who delivered the devastating blow which left 26-year-old Ben Coulbeck nursing a broken cheek.

In the early hours of Sunday, December 7, Mr Coulbeck was celebrating a friend’s birthday in Cruise nightclub, St John Street, Chester.

He now needs a metal plate in his cheek for life after the men ambushed him as he walked towards the club’s toilets.

One of the men punched Mr Coulbeck before they made off.

The victim described his attacker as being of Asian origin, about 5in 10in with a stocky, muscular build and speaking with an Asian accent. He wore a dark blue shirt.

Police spokeswoman Shelley Williams said: “The victim was subjected to an unprovoked assault involving two men, and as a result underwent a lengthy process of treatment for a fractured eye socket.”

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who can identify the individuals to contact DC Nigel Moore at Chester CID on 01244 613150 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
