A lost duck and her ducklings had to get out of town after finding themselves away from their natural habitat in the middle of Chester city centre .

But instead of going ‘with a quack and a waddle and a quack’, like in the Ugly Duckling song, the mother and her brood were kindly assisted by PCSOs who rescued them from Foregate Street earlier today (Friday, April 8).

Cheshire Police tweeted: “Have assisted in the safe recovery of a duck and her 13 ducklings from Foregate Street #Chester #waddlingsafely #wildlife.”

Cheshire Constabulary spokeswoman Rachel Hayes said according the log, the PCSOs were ‘taking them down to The Groves ’ alongside the River Dee.
