A health centre in Chester has celebrated its 20th anniversary.

The Osteopathic Health Centre in Cheyney Road opened its doors to patients on March 19 1996 and has been providing treatment ever since.

Deirdre Stubbs and her team of osteopaths began in rented premises in Upton and Handbridge three years earlier and now provide 5,500 osteopathic treatments each year, alleviating conditions ranging from back and neck pain, headaches and sporting injuries to general stiffness and mechanical joint pain.

Two dedicated members of the reception team, Loretta Mackenzie and Sue Chetwood, have been employed since the year the practice opened.

All the osteopaths at the practice have completed four years full time training and are registered with the General Osteopathic Council. Robert Chernick, who has been working at the practice for 11 years, has a particular interest in biomechanics and sports injuries and, Deirdre, in addition to treating adults with a range of conditions, recognises the importance of the treatment of children.

She also leads a special Saturday Children’s Clinic staffed by osteopaths who have additional training in paediatric osteopathy and are passionate to maximise the health of the next generation.

Before treatment begins a careful physical examination and other assessments are made in order to understand and diagnose the underlying cause of symptoms, which may have originated even years before.
