A CHESTER menswear shop is to be featured on national television in a popular wedding programme.

Groom on Northgate Street will be seen on BBC3 programme Don’t Tell the Bride next Tuesday (November 29) when bridegroom Nick Royle chooses the shop to purchase attire for his big day.

In the programme, where the groom-to-be is given £12,000 to arrange an entire wedding in just three weeks without any contact with his bride, viewers will see Mr Royle from Widnes try to arrange the perfect day for his fiance Victoria, 29, who was left paralysed two years ago by the rare nerve condition Guillain-Barre syndrome, and was told by doctors that she could be wheelchair-bound for life.

During her three months in hospital, former Widnes Vikings star Nick never left her side and luckily Victoria has now recovered just in time for her wedding, which had a Royal Wedding theme.

Colin Wilkes, manager of Groom, said he was ‘very pleased and proud’ that Nick chose his shop to buy his wedding suit.

“It was really exciting, the camera crew were filming in here for a few hours and in keeping with the Royal Wedding theme, he bought a black jacket and trousers and some red scrunch ties,” added Colin.

“I’m really proud our shop was chosen for this occasion.”

And there’s also another reason to celebrate. This weekend Groom will be marking their 15th birthday by knocking 40%off all suits in store.

Customers are invited to join staff in the celebrations by dropping into the shop for champagne, cakes and nibbles on both Saturday and Sunday.

Tune into Don’t Tell the Bride on Tuesday, November 29 at 9pm on BBC3.
