A MAN who died in the wilds of Snowdonia has been named.

He was Roman James Deans, a Canadian who had been living in Bretton near Broughton, Chester.

The 24-year-old was working on a contract at the Airbus plant in Broughton, although he was not a company employee.

A spokesman for North West Wales coroner Dewi Pritchard Jones said a post-mortem had been carried out, and an inquest opened and adjourned to a future date.

An Airbus spokesman said: “Everyone at Airbus UK who knew him is shocked and saddened, and Airbus has passed on sincere condolences to his family and colleagues.”

Chris Lloyd, a member of the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation, said Mr Deans is believed to have fallen 200ft while walking on the south face Tryfan in Snowdonia.

He was airlifted to Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, by an RAF helicopter but pronounced dead on arrival.

The accident is thought to have happened on Sunday, March 29, although his body was not discovered until the following Thursday.

Mr Deans was reported missing after failing to report for work.
