SATURDAY’S rain did not put a dampener of Chester Lions Club’s fireworks display at Chester Racecourse.
Organisers say between 14,000 and 15,000 people attended the event, with a further 2,000 watching the main display from the City Walls.
Lion Peter Upton said: “Comments received say it was the best ever, despite the extremely cold and wet evening. We have had rave reviews about Junior Parker Band and the fireworks finale.”
The display was themed to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and guests from Chester the Giant City included a giant Queen and a giant Guy Fawkes.
Money raised will go to worthwhile individual causes and charities.
