CHESTER’s Queen’s School have reported another year of excellent A level results.

Many of the students scooped the new top A* grade in many of their A level papers with well over half of all exams awarded A* and A grades.

Two students had particular reason to celebrate when they opened their results this morning. Jenny Overton of Ellesmere Port and Nicola Canfield from Chester both achieved new A* grade in every single one of their subjects. Jenny will now go on to read natural sciences at Cambridge University and Nicola will study at Southampton University.

Students scored the new grade across a wide range of subjects. Others who also achieved A* grades will take up places at university to study mathematics, medicine, economics, chemistry, biology, English and psychology.

A very proud headmistress Catherine Buckley who is retiring from Queen’s school this year said: “We are delighted that the girls have risen to the challenge of the new grade A* grade.

“Only the most able and hard-working students can score the 90% required in their A2 papers to achieve this and we are delighted that so many of our sixth formers have proved that this is well within their grasp.

She added: “All of our students have worked very hard for their success. I am very proud of what they and their teachers have achieved.”
