EXCELLENT A Level results were celebrated again at Helsby High School this morning when nine students gained at least three As.

Penny Morris of Helsby gained an A* and four A grades and will go on to study medicine in Nottingham, while Edward Cox, of Frodsham, who will study chemistry at Imperial College and Hugh Panton, of Helsby, who will study engineering at Cambridge, after both receiving an A* and two As.

Retiring headteacher of the Chester Road school, Richard Evans, said: “I would like to congratulate all the students on their marvellous achievements and thank them for the many contributions to the school they have made over the years.

“I would also like to recognise their hard work and dedication of the staff in supporting the students in their studies. “At a time when some national figures are commenting that A levels are getting easier, I would like to positively celebrate the students’ tremendous achievements whilst they have been at Helsby High School in gaining these outstanding results.”

A total of 20 pupils achieved one or more of the new A* grades in their results.
