ORGANISERS of this year’s Santa Dash were astonished to receive application forms from 102 pupils and staff at The King’s School in Chester.
Amanda Le Bretton, fundraising and marketing manager at the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, gave a presentation at the school last month about the work of the hospice.
She explained their share of the proceeds from the second Santa Dash would once again be used to support their Reflect Child Bereavement Service.
“This has boosted the number of participants to just over 1,000 and we are definitely on target to attract more participants than we had last year.
“It is just brilliant to see so many pupils from The King’s School taking part and we hope that other schools will be encouraged to follow suit,” said Amanda.
The Chester Santa Dash has once again been sponsored by M&S Bank and has the support of Cheshire West and Chester Council as well as the University of Chester, Riverside Campus in Castle Drive which is where the 4k dash starts.
Headmaster Chris Ramsey said: “King’s has been in Chester for almost 450 years and in that time has been a strong supporter of local events.
“King’s is delighted to be supporting the Santa Dash.”
Joint organisers of the event, the Countess of Chester Hospital, will put funds raised to their new Babygrow Appeal which is being officially launched in December with a target of £3m to build a neonatal unit.
