Chester Inner Wheel celebrated its 70th anniversary with a charter dinner at the Abbot’s Well Hotel.

President Nadine Morris welcomed guests, the Lord Mayor of Chester Hugo Deynem and his wife Debbie, Rotary chairmen Heather Oldham and Ty Price, district chairman Kay Kellaway, association council member Sandra Crowden and guest speaker Sue Sellars.

Before the meal a special cake was cut by Cynthia Siddall, one of the club’s longest serving members.

Afterwards, Sue Sellars spoke amusingly about her year as High Sheriff of Cheshire.

Inner Wheel started for wives of Rotarians, to support Rotary with fundraising and community service.

Their aims are to promote friendship, encourage ideals of personal service and to foster international understanding.

Over the last 70 years, Chester Inner Wheel has raised thousands of pounds for domestic and overseas charities, as well and providing practical and personal help to the community.

Nowadays it is open to all women who share these ideals, while still supporting Rotary and enjoying social events together.
