CHESTER city centre’s policing team has detailed instances of crime and arrests in the area.

A 26-year-old local man was arrested after a member of the public saw him breaking into a car near the Racecourse on Sunday, May 6.

This resulted in a police area search, while the force helicopter was deployed.

PCSO Joe Harris used his local knowledge of likely escape routes and made his way toward the waste disposal centre, where the suspect was found hiding.

The man, well known to officers, was arrested and remains on bail.

Following a recent burglary in Catherine Street where a laptop was stolen, a 19-year-old local man was arrested and charged in relation to it. He will appear in Chester Magistrates Court at the end of this month.

Following a burglary in Mason Street, 26-year-old local man Sheldon Ward was this week charged with burglary and appeared in Chester Magistrates Court. Ward was remanded in custody to appear at Chester Crown Court on August 6.

Earlier in the month, college area community beat manager PC Jane Becker, plus colleagues from Neston, arrested a 39-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman in connection with cannabis growing offences.

They made the arrests at a Finchett Drive property, where quantities of drugs were found. The two arrested remain on police bail.
