Fewer than 24 hours ago, a weather warning of strong winds and heavy rain was in force for Chester.

But now the city is basking in glorious sunshine and it's officially hotter here than it is on the popular Greek island of Mykonos and a whole 5°C warmer than Portugal's capital city Lisbon.

The mercury will peak at 26°C today and the Met Office say we're in for a muggy night.

How long will it last?

But make the most of this September heat-wave because while Thursday looks like it'll be a pretty pleasant day boasting a maximum temperature of 22°C, temperatures will nosedive on Friday to just 16°C and staying that way for much of the weekend.

So it might be an idea to fire up the barbecue and make the most of eating al fresco, as it could be one of the last opportunities for it this year.
