A Chester justice campaigner’s e-petition to the Government calling for a new inquest into her son who died in the Hillsborough Stadium disaster has recorded outstanding success.

Anne Williams, 59, of Newtown, lost her 15-year-old son Kevin in the footballing tragedy which claimed the lives of 96 Liverpool fans 23 years ago.

Now her Government e-petition has been signed by more than 110,000 people, more than the 100,000 required for the petition to be debated in the House of Commons.

The petition calls on the Government to open a new inquest under section 13 of the Coroner’s Act, wanting a verdict of accidental death to be overturned due to new evidence which Anne claims disproves that finding.

Anne believes Kevin was still alive at 4pm and did not die from traumatic asphyxia.

However, original inquests into the disaster ruled all the victims were dead by 3.15pm.

The internet campaign has been publicised by Liverpool FC manager Kenny Dalglish, former manager Rafael Benitez, Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, QPR midfielder Joey Barton and celebrities Boy George and Piers Morgan.

Several MPs also publicised the link to the petition, including Chester MP Stephen Mosley.
