CHESTER-BASED vocal group Soundwall has gone from strength to strength this year.

After a year of fundraising the band presented a cheque for £1,000 to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Treasurer Louise Rogers said Soundwall were ‘very proud’ to have raised such a significant sum for the society.

She said: “Alzheimer’s and dementia touch the lives of so many people and the Alzheimer’s Society offer great support to patients and their families.”

The money was raised through sales of the Soundwall Christmas single, Christmas Bells Still Ringing, written by band member and songwriter Jonny B (available to download on iTunes), and through bag packing in Sainsbury’s.

“We aim to support a range of very worthy charities, both local and national,” said Louise.

“In addition to Alzheimer’s, we recently presented a cheque for £500 to the Hospice of the Good Shepherd.”

Soundwall also staged a concert last weekend to raise funds for Christie Hospital in Manchester.
