A woman was injured after being mugged in broad daylight on Grosvenor Bridge in Chester.

The 37-year-old, who is believed to be an officer based at Cheshire West and Chester Council’s HQ building, was walking along Grosvenor Bridge, near the cemetery entrance, when a man approached from behind and started to grab her handbag about 12.20pm yesterday (Wednesday, June 11).

As the male pulled the straps of the bag it caused the victim to be dragged along the floor, causing her to suffer a grazed elbow and injury to her hip. She was left shaken but did not require hospital treatment for her injuries.

Following police enquiries, a 24-year-old man was arrested and charged with the robbery. He is due to appear at Chester Magistrates Court on June 30. The handbag was later recovered.
