Chester's giants are preparing to move further out of the city to make way for the expansion of a controversial perfume factory.

Starting tomorrow Tuesday, February 11, 118  giants will be packed up and moved from Giant HQ on Sealand Road.

The news comes as The Chronicle exclusively revealed the annual giant’s parade will not be coming to Chester this summer , after a clash of dates saw the crowd-puller snatched up by Ellesmere Port councillors.

Owners of the giants are appealing for help moving the 14ft giants to the new premises, just two miles down the road at Marcher Court, Bank Farm in Blacon.

Kristine Szulik, Chester the Giant City project manager said: “The giants are moving further up the road towards the border.

“We have to get out because Ungerer are taking over the site. They are helping us with the move.

“We are looking for people to help us move the giants up the road.”

Kristine said the move included several start up businesses on the site, and the giants would still be put outside the new building for motorists to see as they drive along Sealand Road.

The expansion of Ungerer Limited comes three months after Cheshire West and Chester carried out a 'sniff test' at the site after complaints from residents over smells coming from the plant.

CWaC concluded the smells were ‘mildly and moderately pleasant’ and didn’t equate to a ‘statutory nuisance’.

The Chronicle contacted Ungerer Limited,  but no one was available to comment and a receptionist said she was not aware of expansion plans.
