FUNDRAISER Margaret McKeegan has launched a summer appeal for help with her goodwill boxes.

Margaret, 77, of Thackeray Towers, Newtown, has been sending shoe boxes filled with goodies and essentials to serving soldiers for the last two years and has so far sent more than 1,800 to Iraq and Afghanistan.

She said: “I’m looking after seven regiments at the moment and I need things like shower gel, sweets and biscuits to put in the boxes.”

Margaret has been bowled over by the help she has had from members of the public and would like to thank everyone who has helped with her fundraising.

She said: “Just in couple of weeks, Sylvia Jenkins from the ReAct theatre group raised £200, and the Pied Bull raised £135.

“Shoe Zone in Frodsham Street have been brilliant, they give me the boxes, and the staff at the Post Office in Brook Street have helped me as well.”

“These soldiers need our help and support and I’m really glad that there are so many kind people who are willing to put their hands in their pockets to help them.”
