CHESTER-based production company Rapport Creative has just completed the short film Sea Wall.
This has been produced in collaboration with Olivier Award winning writer Simon Stephens and leading stage and screen actor Andrew Scott, currently filming as Moriarty in Sherlock for BBC1.
Sea Wall was originally written as a 30-minute play for the Bush Theatre in London and subsequently staged at the Edinburgh Festival, attracting unanimously positive reviews from the national and theatre press.
The challenge facing the producers was to capture the intensity of the writing and the supreme naturalism of Andrew Scott’s performance in a very different medium.
The work was first screened in London to a select audience of film and television industry luminaries.
Sea Wall was filmed on location in London by the Rapport Creative team and edited in-house.
Director of photography and editor on the project was Jack Dillon, location sound and audio post-production was provided by freelance broadcast sound recordist Stuart Windle, with producer and director duties being shared by Simon Stephens and Rapport MD, Andy Porter.
Mr Porter said: “It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to work on a project as original as Sea Wall, with such brilliant people. All involved in the production are thrilled with the initial response to the film and we hope to feature it in national and international film festivals during the rest of the year.”
