The Chronicle and Big Yellow Chester Christmas Toy Appeal continues to receive great support from the local community and businesses alike.

And now Chester FC have backed the campaign that is aiming to provide presents for under privileged children and families charities in the local area in time for Christmas.

The Blues have been involved with previous Big Yellow Self Storage Toy Appeals and are asking fans to help the cause by donating new toys and gifts at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium as the countdown to Christmas continues.

Last year, the players and management team at the club took the donations received down to the children’s ward at the Countess of Chester Hospital complete with Blue and White Santa suits.

Jeff Banks, business development manager at Big Yellow Chester, was thrilled to have the club’s support again: “To have Chester FC involved for a third year running with the Toy Appeal shows just what a great community club they are and I’d like to thank Jon McCarthy and Jim Green in particular for their help and support.

“Chester fans have contributed great numbers of gifts in the past and I hope they can spare an extra present in their Christmas shopping this year too, in the knowledge that the gift will go a child or family in the local area that may not have had a present to open on Christmas Day.”

Blues boss Jon McCarthy has also asked fans to do their bit wherever possible to help: “Chester fans showed last year just how much they care for others less fortunate than themselves with a big amount of donations, and I’m sure they will support it in the same way, if not better, this year.

“I think it’s a brilliant initiative by Big Yellow that has one aim - to give a present to someone who really needs it and the bonus is that we can help deliver some of those toys and gifts to the children’s ward at the Countess of Chester Hospital in the build up to Christmas.”

Donations of unwrapped new gifts and toys (ages 0-15) can be dropped off at the club’s reception at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium, Bumpers Lane, Chester CH1 4LT during Monday to Friday and on match days while donations can also be made at Big Yellow Self Storage’s reception at The Printworks (next to B&Q), Sealand Road, Chester CH1 4RN between 8am-6pm (Monday to Friday), 9am-6pm (Saturday) and 10am-4pm (Sunday) any day up to and including December 20.
