Chester and Ellesmere Port are this week (May 28 - June 5) celebrating Cheshire’s science rich heritage by taking part in Amazed by Science, a week-long series of events to promote science, technology, engineering and maths.

Now in its third year, Amazed by Science is organised by Marketing Cheshire and the University of Manchester’s Jodrell Bank to promote and celebrate the region’s strengths in science and capture children’s imaginations through a jam-packed programme of events across Cheshire.

In Chester, families can get involved by visiting the town hall this Thursday (June 2) for fun science activities and a talk by one of Amazed by Science’s sponsors, Urenco. While in Ellesmere Port, Urenco will also be on hand at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet hosting a range of activities for kids to learn about how fun science can be.

Little ones can also enjoy a day of fun science at the Port Arcades in Ellesmere Port on the same day.

Between Tuesday, May 31 and Thursday, June 2, visitors to Chester Zoo will be able to meet its scientists and find out more about their work at various locations around the attraction.

The Aliens Science Show (June 1-3) at Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre should be a fascinating event.

A blurb for the show states: “Have you ever wondered if there are any aliens out there? In this show we will explore where they might be, what they might be like and what we are doing to try to find them through a series of fun experiments.”
