A DENTIST will get a taste of his own medicine when he is made to suffer 26.2 miles of running.

Fran Martinez, of Whitefriars House Dental Practice has thrown himself into a gruelling training regime to raise money for ActionAid, who help people in the developing world.

On April 25, he will take to the capital’s streets for the Virgin London Marathon and his patients have already been donating in force.

So far, Fran has raised £1,280 and aims to raise at least £600 more.

He said: “It has been an ambition of mine to do this for a long time.

“I want to say a big thanks to all the patients that have sponsored me.

“I am up to running 22 miles so I’m quielty confident. I’m aiming for a time of three hours 45 minutes.

“The training is pretty intense and can be tough at times, but so far I am enjoying the challenge and I am on target to make my way successfully around the 26 mile course in April.

“I will be so grateful for any donation and if I manage to raise my target £1,800, then all the hard work will have been worth it.”

After the race, he will hold a rock ‘n’ roll evening at the Catholic Club on Brook Street to raise even more cash.
