A CHESTER project is looking for your vote to become part of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations next year.

Dancing with Giants, an idea by organisers of the Carnival of Giants in Chester, is short listed for a grant from the Jubilee People’s Millions with the vote on ITV next Wednesday.

The project will involve 60 communities, groups or organisations from west and east Cheshire working with an artist to build a 14 ft high Queen Elizabeth II dancing giant.

This will culminate in a Diamond Jubilee street carnival party in Chester.

Chester’s Carnival of Giants had a royal presence this year with The Queen’s School creating a giant Queen Victoria, The King’s School’s majestic Henry VIII and giants of the newly wed Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The giant project is up against five others in the region in the public vote.

Voting for the Chester project will open at 9am on Wednesday and stay open till midnight. A video of the project will be shown on Granada Reports from 6pm. The winner will receive £60,000.

City MP Stephen Mosley, said: “The Chester Giants are unique to Chester and are a great advertisement for the city.”
