A GROUP of proud Chester dads are hoping a gruelling 200-mile journey across the country proves to be as easy as riding a bike.

The 20 daring dads from the Waverton and Christleton area are planning on cycling from Marble Arch in London to Chester in 41 hours.

The charity ride will see slightly more experienced cyclists riding next to other dads who have not been on a bike in years.

Chester businessman Tony Smith said: “There are already a few sore bums and legs but no one is giving up. We cycled 50 miles last Sunday during a training run so we’re on course for July.”

Tony has organised the run so it starts in the early hours of Friday, July 3, and the finish will coincide with the Waverton carnival on July 4.

The route will take the cyclists along the A41, hence the name 41 in 41.

All the funds raised from the dads’ efforts will go toward the North West charity, Save the Family.
