A COUPLE boasting 18 grandchildren celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last week.

Frank and Sheila White, of Cedar Grove, Hoole were married 50 years ago last Friday at Hoff Green Methodist Church, Saltney.

The couple first met in 1957 when Sheila worked in the same launderette as Frank’s sister.

Frank, 73, and Sheila, 69, have lived in Chester throughout their marriage.

Frank worked in a Chester photographic laboratory as an assistant manager for 27 years and Sheila worked in Heath Lane launderette and a Chester chip shop.

The pair now have a large family of four children and a staggering 18 grandchildren and three great grandchildren – the youngest of which is now 20 months old.

They celebrated their 50 happily married years at a service at their church where Sheila was presented with a bunch of flowers and Frank received a book about the Bible.

They also celebrated with family members by going for a meal and hope to go on holiday in May to somewhere warm.

Frank, reflecting on the secret to a long, happy marriage said; “You’ve got to have love in a relationship, you’ve got to have respect for each other and you’ve got to share things.”
