Children from Chester schools have been engaged in a writing project for a new city centre restaurant.

Oldfield Primary School headteacher Alan Brown had a brainwave to invite pupils within his network of primary schools to a writing workshop with the aim of producing a book of writing for the Burger Shed, which opened on Bridge Street in November 2015.

The children from Years 1 and 2 worked with restaurant owner Ian Wade in preparation for poetry about what they would find ‘Inside the Shed’.

They especially liked the sound of the Oreo milkshakes and were intrigued by the side order of poutine, a Canadian dish of french fries and cheese curds topped with gravy.

The schools involved were Oldfield Primary School, Huntington Primary School, Waverton Primary School, Mickle Trafford Primary School, Cherry Grove Primary School, Saighton C.E Primary School, Guilden Sutton Primary School, Boughton Heath Primary School, Barrow Primary School and Christleton Primary School.
