CHESHIRE West and Chester Council is supporting the Stroke Association’s first ever awareness month Action on Stroke.

The council funds the Long Term Support Service in Cheshire West and Chester which is delivered by the Stroke Association.

The service assists stroke survivors, carers and family members to access support in a relaxed atmosphere. Groups meet in Chester, Winsford and Ellesmere Port.

The council’s executive member for adult social care and health, Councillor Brenda Dowding, said: “The Long Term Support Service provides fortnightly group meetings for social activities and covers a variety of topics from healthy eating to driving a car again.

“The groups focus on helping stroke survivors of working age to return to voluntary or paid employment.”

People of all ages and abilities are invited to join the Stroke Association’s Step Out charity walk on Sunday, May 20, at 2pm in Grosvenor Park, Chester.

Participants are encouraged to raise extra sponsorship and fundraising packs are available. Everyone who takes part will receive a Step Out T-shirt on the day.
