AN EPIC presentation of The Dream of Gerontius by Edward Elhar will be staged at Chester Cathedral on Saturday (November 7).

The Border Singers of Whitchurch join Nantwich Choral Society, The Lydian Singers and Romsey (Hampshire) Choral Society in a choir of some 170 singers for the performance, under John Naylor, musical director of Nantwich Choral Society, at 7.30pm.

The role of Gerontius will be sung by the tenor Peter Auty, who shot to fame as a boy chorister as the original voice singing Walking in the Air for Howard Blake's soundtrack to The Snowman.

The large instrumental ensemble required for the work will be provided by the Northern Concordia Orchestra.

Tickets are priced £16-£10. Ring 01244 500959 or visit
