CHESTER Cathedral’s Advent Carol Service and Candlelit Procession will take place at 6.30pm on Sunday.

The service, which takes place on the first Sunday in Advent, begins with the entry of the choir and clergy into a darkened cathedral. The procession then moves from west to east, stopping at various points for readings, prayers and choral anthems as well as congregational carols such as O Come, O come, Emmanuel and Lo, He comes with clouds descending.

As the procession moves on, candles are lit and the cathedral is illuminated, signifying the coming of the light of Christ.

Everyone is invited to attend.
