THE complex care team at Care UK’s The Pinetum nursing home, Liverpool Road, Chester, has been nominated as a finalist in the Care Home Team category of the prestigious Great British National Care Home Awards.

The home, which is rated as excellent by the Care Quality Commission, has 45 residents who have a wide range of needs including complex and palliative care. Since 2002 the highly trained complex care team have worked together to look after and improve the quality of life of people who would otherwise spend long periods of time in hospital.

The team work closely with the people they care for and their families to ensure that care is individually tailored to their needs and they have the best quality of life with choice and independence.

Home manager Tracy Simpson said: “I’m thrilled that our nomination has gone through to the finals. The team work incredibly hard and always treat people with the dignity they deserve. The most important thing we do is to help people feel that they are valued and in control of their lives again. If they have acquired a disability they can lose a great deal of confidence and we help them to regain that and encourage them to fulfil their ambitions.”

Tracy and her team beat off stiff competition from care homes across the country to take its place in the final in London on Saturday, June 5.
