A CHESTER-based chief executive is waging a campaign to get Cornish food into the Houses of Parliament.

Richard Nieto is CEO of the West Cornwall Pasty Co, which has a branch on Northgate Street, Chester.

He has teamed up with Mark Prisk MP, Shadow Minister for Cornwall, to help promote South West produce to MPs at the Houses of Parliament.

Mr Prisk , who is a native Cornishman and is now the MP for Hertford and Stortford, has organised a South West food showcase for all the catering and food outlets in the Houses of Parliament until the end of April.

Mr Nietosaid: “We were delighted to support Mark’s idea of promoting the finest food from the South West. There are plenty of producers both large and small who have become great success stories and are very proud of their South West roots.

“I’m sure the showcase will be a great success and that MP’s from all parties will agree that there’s nothing better than a pasty and a pint.”

The Houses of Parliament has 12 different outlets ranging from fine dining to bars. During the South West showcase it will feature the best products from the region including, meat, fish, vegetables, cheese, beer and Cornish pasties.
