REPAIR work on Chester’s damaged rows is in its final stages.

Restoration and remedial work at 15 Bridge Street is progressing nearly six weeks after being closed due to fears it could collapse.

Sayers the Bakers has reopened and the Panasonic Shop, which is temporarily located in the Grosvenor Shopping Centre, is now available to its owner again.

External scaffolding on the building is likely to remain in place for up to a further three weeks to allow for external redecoration and minor timber and window repairs to be completed.

Grosvenor Estate resident agent Nick Jones said: “We are delighted that we have been able to get the two units in the building ready for business again so relatively quickly.

“We would like to thank them for their understanding and patience and hope that their loyal customers will return as quickly as possible.

“The main work in securing the structure of the building has now been completed and the remaining work is to redecorate.

“Once this is done, the scaffolding can be removed and the street can return to normal.”
