MEMBERS of Chester Brass Band have bid bon voyage to a Swiss musician who lent her skills to the ensemble while studying in the city.

Sahra Périsset, who plays a B flat cornet, began attending rehearsals in January while undertaking an intensive course at the English in Chester language school.

The 19-year-old has now returned to her home town of Fribourg in western Switzerland, where she is a member of Fanfare Paroissiale de Promasens. She hopes to find a job to utilise her new English-speaking skills.

Musical director Philip Mottershead wished Sahra every success in the future on behalf of the band’s members.

Chester Brass Band, which has entertained a number of Swiss students, visited Switzerland in 1982. The group toured Lausanne, Porrentruy and Bienne under then musical director, the late John Golland.
