MARATHON man John Gartland sets off on his 740-mile tour of the UK’s Premier League clubs on Monday – and Chronicle readers can follow every step online.

Barman John, of Churton Road, is aiming to run the equivalent of 28 marathons in just 21 days.

The 30-year-old is hoping to raise £50,000 for Alder Hey Imagine Appeal and The Daisy Garland – the two charities that have helped his nephew William Reid.

William, four, of Ashton Hayes, was diagnosed with epilepsy at 25-weeks-old and suffers up to 12 seizures every night.

John’s trek will take him from Newcastle United to Norwich City, taking in the 18 other top league clubs – and Chester FC – en route.

And The Chronicle has set up an interactive map to allow readers to follow his progress at www.chesterchronicle.co.uk.

John will be running back into Chester for one night on Saturday, March 3, to host a fundraising ball at The Queen’s Hotel, City Road.

The event will include a drink, canapés, three-course meal, live comedy and music.

Tickets are £30 available by emailing runningmissdaisy@yahoo.co.uk.
