The accounts manager at a Chester pub is gearing up to cycle 300 miles in just four days in aid of a charity which helps provide specialist equipment for disabled children.

Anita D’Henin, 50, will tackle the London to Paris Bike Ride between July 20 and 25 in aid of Children Today.

But first she needs to raise £1,400 for the charity so she can take part in the ‘challenge of a lifetime’.

A quiz night was recently held at the Coach House – where Anita works as an accounts manager – to help her meet her fundraising target.

Anita, who lives in Gwernaffield near Mold with her two children, explained that she has never undertaken anything like this before but desperately wanted to raise money for Children Today.

“I am a member of Chester Business Club and was invited to take part in a charity walk but couldn’t do that and saw the cycle challenge instead and thought what better way than to get back into the saddle after a bad fall mountain biking three years ago,” she said.

“The days in the saddle are long, but upon reaching Paris and celebrating my achievement in the fabulous capital, I’m hoping the saddle soreness will soon wear off!

“So please help me reach my goal and donate today for this fantastic charity, no matter how big or how small.”
