CHESHIRE Wildlife Trust is offering residents the chance to go on sponsored walks with a difference.

The wildlife charity is putting on two walks in May – one of three miles and the other of 10 miles – which will be accompanied by guides with specialist knowledge of the countryside.

The short walk, aimed at families with young children and people who want to know about wildlife friendly farming, is on farmland at the trust’s headquarters, Bickley Hall Farm near Malpas, where the organisation has a herd of traditional English Longhorn cattle and flock of Hebridean sheep.

The long walk is for country lovers who are also experienced walkers. It begins at Bickley Hall Farm, heads north up the Sandstone Trail as far as Larkton Hill, then returns via the Trail.

The date for both walks is Sunday, May 10.

Photography enthusiasts are encouraged to enter their images of the day into a competition. The best will be published in Cheshire Wildlife Trust’s magazine, The Grebe.

It costs £5 to register for the long walk and £3 for an adult and £1 for a child for the short walk.

Registration forms are available by phoning 01948 820728 or emailing cbentley@cheshirewt.cix.co.uk.
