VOTERS across Cheshire West and Chester are being reminded to ensure that their voices are heard on local issues by completing their annual voter registration forms.

More than 148,000 registration forms have been sent to all households in West Cheshire.

So far 73% have been returned, but electors who have not yet responded are being urged to complete and return their forms as soon as possible.

The deadline for signing up to the 2011 voting register is November 15.

Registering to vote is simple, quick and easy. Just update the annual form that has been posted through your letterbox with the details of everyone in your household who is eligible to vote and return the form to us as soon as possible.

If your details haven’t changed you can also reply by text, phone, e-mail or online.

Leader of the council, Mike Jones, said: “Some people may not realise that they have to register to vote every year in order to ensure that all personal details are still correct. Not registering to vote can also affect a person’s credit rating.

“Local elections will be taking place throughout West Cheshire on May 5, 2011 and the referendum on the voting system for the UK Parliament is planned for the same day.

“By completing the annual form that comes through your door, you can be assured that your vote will be secured next year and any risk to your credit rating will be eliminated.”

For anyone who has misplaced their household’s form please call the council’s Electoral Services Department on 01244 402142 or email elreg_int@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk.
