The Chronicle asked the authority which 20 postcodes had the highest attendances of pest control officers in 2015.

The results feature postcodes in Chester, Ellesmere Port , Neston, Tarporley, Winsford , Northwich and Frodsham .

Among the three species highlighted - rats, wasps and mice - rats posed the biggest problem.

Cllr Mark Henesy , cabinet member for environment and community, said: “Pests can pass on disease and cause damage to property. At a time when many local authorities have stopped providing pest control, Cheshire West and Chester Council still offers this service.

“Our operatives, who are qualified and trained to a high standard, can remove rats, mice, and cockroaches, all of which are classed as a threat to public health. Treatments are also available for pests that are not considered a threat to public health. These treatments are humane and environmentally safe.
