A DANCE project has been launched in Chester for adults with learning disabilities.

Dance sessions are delivered in a six week block and allow individuals with a wide array of learning and physical disabilities to express themselves through dance in a fun and interactive way.

The project is being run by Cheshire West and Chester Council in partnership with Cheshire Dance.

Sessions are held every Tuesday at the Mulberry Centre in Chester and the Centre is supporting the project by providing use of their performing arts space.

The project has been initially funded by Sport England and will be sustained through partnership working with Council Arts and Sports development teams with Cheshire Dance.

Councillor Richard Short, Executive Member for Culture and Recreation said: “This project is a prime example of how partnership working can really benefit the local community.”

Becky Ankers, dance practitioner at Cheshire Dance said: “Since the sessions have begun I have seen the group grow together and become more and more confident in their ability to create movement.”
