TARPORLEY parish councillors revealed they had met their objectives for 2008 and have ambitious plans for the coming year.

In a review of the year’s activities at a council meeting on Monday (January 12), parish council chairman Heidi Nickson went through a list of objectives they had set at the start of 2008.

She revealed that, as planned, they had set up a country market and a Tarporley Business Association, completed their Parish Plan and won the Best Kept Village competition.

Cllr Nickson said: “We have completed the majority of the things we had planned to do. However, there are some objectives which we haven’t met.

“We haven’t got the Sustainable Tarporley idea off the ground and we did say we would try and help shape the new unitary authority - whether we have done that or not, who knows?”

Ideas for 2009 included setting up a Civic Society in the village and a form of gardening club, to look at the sports facilities in the village and support the Tarporley Vics football team in finding a home ground for the team.

Other objectives included continuing to push forward with the parish plan and to once again win the Best Kept Village competition.
