The shortlist has been revealed for the first ever Trinity Mirror Cheshire Schools Awards.

Whether you are a teacher, pupil or parent, this exciting and prestigious new event was your chance to salute your school as we aim to find and celebrate the best.

We asked readers to send us nominations for nine categories and we were overwhelmed by the response we received.

Judges from Trinity Mirror and executive partner Excell Supply got together to go through all the entires and came up with shortlists in each of those categories.

Trinity Mirror Cheshire executive editor Michael Green, one of those judges, said: “I have judged many awards schemes over the years but this is one of the toughest tasks I have ever had to face.

“This may be the first time we have run this scheme but the standard of entries was exceptionally high and it is no exaggeration to say that every one of the shortlisted entries - and quite a number of those that didn’t make the shortlists - are deserving of the ultimate accolades.”

Jon Everall of Excell Supply said: “The standard of entries was extremely high which made judging extremely difficult. We would like to thank everyone that took the time to enter, and congratulations to the final shortlist. We are excited to welcome the schools at the awards in July and look forward to revealing the winners.”

All successful schools shortlisted will be invited to attend a free celebratory lunch and awards ceremony held at the Queen Hotel, Chester on Wednesday, July 8. The host fior the ceremony is BBC TV presenter Dianne Oxberry.
